Half Day Whitewater An excerpt from one of our guests Christmas letters: "One of our afternoons was spent white water rafting down the Flathead River on the southwest edge of the park. Dale, our guide, on the eight mile journey had only one rule. The rule was to stay in the boat. As I don't swim this seemed like a very reasonable and sensible request. I was 100% in favor of it. Also it seems Dale's advice could be applicable to marriages, school and life in general. Dale was a free spirited, bearded fellow who enjoyed water fights with other boats, camping, cooking, the great outdoors and helping people have a great time. As you can see from the picture Dale could say mission accomplished. As I look at this picture I see my family going down a river all with big smiles on their faces working together to avoid obstacles, having fun and making a memory. Isnýt that what vacations are supposed to be about? Isnýt that what life is supposed to be about?..." (England) 6 Day Backpack "Dear Randy, Cris and Denny, I have been meaning to write to you for some time now about my 6 day backpacking trip with Glacier Guides in Glacier National Park, Montana. I was on a trip that left August 5 for a week in the wilderness. I am immensely impressed with the quality and value of the trip. The food was outstanding, the routes spectacular, and as an experienced backpacker, I felt that I had a good opportunity to explore Glaciers wilderness. I was a single traveler, which is why I chose to go with your company, and I found that I was warmly welcomed. The main reason I am writing is because I am very impressed with the quality and dedication of your guides, particularly Ben Ruffato and Sarah Metzger. I started off in a group lead by Ben with tow other people. One of the other group members had a medical problem and had to leave the second day that we were in the backcountry. I thought Ben handled the situation very well; he was compassionate, organized and able to give the two who had to leave ( a father and his daughter), good advice about their options. I felt comfortable with the arrangement he make with me as he walked them out, and it was clear that he knew what he was doing and could be calm in the face of a situation that could have deteriorated. Since I would have been Ben's only client. I wound up joining Sarah's group for the remainder of my trip. Sarah actually offered to have me join her group and not only made me feel welcome, but did an excellent job managing so many people. She is a little powerhouse! I was amazed at her ability to carry so much gear with a smile, her knowledge of the natural history of Glacier National Park, and her positive attitude. Sara is humble, fun, and a very hard worker. I feel fortunate to have met her. I will certainly recommend Glacier Guides to my friends and family. If I am traveling in Glacier alone again, I will certainly book a trip with your company. And most importantly, I want to make sure you know how outstanding Sarah and Ben are as guides; they really made the trip a memorable experience and are truly assets to your company."
