Every Tuesday Hike - Highline Trail
|Description: Only one day in Glacier? Don't miss the vibrant wildflowers, precipitous peaks and pristine alpine environment of Logan Pass. Come discover why Glacier is called the Crown of the Continent on our Tuesday hike.
Meeting Place: You'll meet at our office in West Glacier.
Meeting Time: 8:00 am.
Trail Details: We will be hiking the Highline Trail (also known as the Garden Wall) to Haystack Butte and back, which makes it a 7 mile round trip excursion. The Highline is mostly moderate with the trail undulating a couple of hundred vertical feet at a time.
Details of the Day: Times are approximate.
8 - 9:30 am: Your guide will give a quick orientation, check over your gear for the day, and go over last minute details. Then off we go in our van to Logan Pass, driving up the spectacular Going to the Sun Road, a historic and visually stunning ascent of Glacier's high country.
9:30 - 12 pm: You'll be hiking in an alpine environment with wide open views of the majestic peaks all around you. Often times there are opportunities to watch mountain goats and/or bighorn sheep in their natural habitat. Our guides are very informative and love to share their knowledge of the Park.
12 - 1 pm: Once on the saddle of Haystack Butte we will enjoy a hearty and healthy homemade lunch along with views north along the Continental Divide and into Canada.
1 - 5:30 pm: We will return the same route that we came in on, back to Logan Pass. You'll end the day knowing more about Glacier National Park and its environment than you ever expected. We'll be getting back to the Glacier Guides office by around 5:30 PM sometimes a little later depending on the trip.
Minimum age: 10.
Reservations required in advance.
|Meeting Notes: The day of the trip you should arrive at our office (1.5 mi. west of West Glacier on Hwy 2, across from Kruger Helicopter) by 8:00 AM to meet the guide. Guests are welcome to call our office the day prior to departure (387-5555 or 800-521-7238) to check-in.|
